WHAT WE CAN PROVIDE

FISHER Development Programme

The FISHER Project team provides evidence-based interventions to drive positive change. We provide a number of services as part of our development programme.

  • Accident investigations can highlight hazards that were either missed earlier or are not covered by current practice and procedures. In both cases, effective reporting and investigation aim to discover root causes and prevent future occurrences rather than set blame. We have the necessary experience and skills to undertake in-depth accident investigations on your behalf if required.

  • Fisheries safety legislation is often fragmented, poor articulated or simple non-existent. A legislative review will help in determining the quality and coverage of the existing framework. It can also provide guidance as to the meeting of internal Conventions, guidelines, etc.

  • We can assist with the design, development and drafting of new legislation to rectify issues identified in the review stage, and support and improve the wellbeing of fishers and their communities.

  • We have the necessary experience and skills to up-skill your team to perform data collection and accident investigations as required. Using online or in-person mediums we aim to promote a culture of safety within all aspects of our training.

  • An online portal is a specially designed website that serves as the single point of access to specific information. We provide secure, private portals that offer granular insight for specific audiences to generate insight from our complex data sets.

Reliable data can assist countries in identifying the costs associated with the prevention of fishing accidents and whether resources currently committed to fishing safety are being used effectively and efficiently with regard to the fishing activities. Reliable data can also enable the identification of causes of accidents and the development and implementation of targeted awareness raising and capacity building programmes on safety at sea in the fishing sector. It could also then be used to better inform rule-making processes and to develop implementation support and safety enforcement actions.

  • Public awareness and public benefit campaigns constitute an important element to reinforcing themes prevalent in Accident reporting and investigating. Our campaigns use a variety of platforms and mediums to tailor experiences to your audience.
